Questions operators ask

Straight answers.

Does Los Angeles County have one behavioral health system or two?

Two. Substance use disorder treatment runs through the Substance Abuse Prevention and Control division (SAPC) on the Sage system, and Specialty Mental Health Services run through the Department of Mental Health (DMH) on ProviderConnect NX and Avatar NX. Which one applies depends on whether you are a SUD or mental health provider.

Which LA County system applies to my facility?

If you provide Drug Medi-Cal substance use treatment, you contract with SAPC and use Sage. If you provide Specialty Mental Health Services, you contract with DMH and use ProviderConnect NX. Programs that do both operate in both systems. Navix is the operating record for either, and CollaborateMD processes the claims.
